Ardent Industries, of Springwater, is continuing to expand its capabilities with the recent acquisition of Glass Canada and London Automatic Doors.

Ardent was formed in 2016 by brothers Jason and Bryan White, as an amalgamation of their independent brands: Steelway Building Systems (est. 1976), Zelus Material Handling (est. 2002) and ExSteel Building Components (est. 2004).

Bryan said, “We’re always looking for business opportunities in complementary businesses or businesses that we can use our experience in.”

The deal was finalized on April 27, after being in the works for about a year, with formalization of the details in the past six months.

Rick and Kelly Dawe founded Glass Canada in 1994. The business provides glass and mirror solutions for residential and commercial markets. Glass Canada services customers across southwestern Ontario, offering products such as showers, railings, mirrors, and window films.

They are also the owners of London Automatic Doors, which was established in 2004 to complement Glass Canada, providing automatic doors, overhead doors, and more.

Rick and Kelly began preparing for retirement, which prompted the sale of their businesses. The pair were selective as to who would take things over.

“They wanted an owner that was going to basically treat the employees well, and ensure that the employees had a bright future,” said Bryan.

“We are excited about the alignment between the products and services of Glass Canada and London Automatic Doors, as well as the culture and values that founders Rick and Kelly instilled into their business. We welcome the Glass Canada and London Automatic Door teams to our Ardent family and look forward to getting to know everyone.”

The staff at the two new divisions bring the total employee roster of Ardent companies to over 400.
