Kolhapur, Jul 22 (UNI) Two teams of National Disaster Rescue Force (NDRF) have been called to tackle the flood like situation in Kolhapur district as the Panchanganga river has touched 37.7 feet, just short of 1.3 feet from the danger mark at Rajaram Bandhara at 1100 hours on Thursday.

District weather office said in its official press release that NDRF team would be deployed at Karveer tehsil and Shirol tehsil in Hatkanangale tehsil, where possibility of flooding is high.

Due to high level of water, nearly 1,425 cusec water discharging from three automatic doors of Radhanagari irrigation dam.

With torrential rainfall in western parts of the district, which continued since last three days, total 81 bandharas , situated on various rivers including Panchaganga, Bhogavati,Kasari, Warna, Vedgang, Dudhganga, Kumbhi, were submerged by increasing flooding water.

Kolhapur-Gaganbavda and Kolhapur-Ratnagiri national highways has been closed, due the flood water came on the road at Shenvade and Niki village respectively while three state highways, three district highways have been closed for all type of vehicle traffic due to lodged by flooding water.

Heavy rainfall recorded in all catchment areas of total 14 irrigation dams in the district while three irrigation dam’s has already filed with its capacity. In Radhanagri irrigation dam’s total 194 mm rainfall recorded in last 24 hours ending at 0800 hours this morning with 66 percent filed with its capacity, Tulashi 234 mm(64 percent filed), Warns 185 mm(82pc), Dudhganga 117 mm(56pc), Kasari 256 mm(76 pc), Kadvi 285 mm(73pc), Patgaon 183 mm(74pc) Chikotra 180(64pc) Chitri 133 (78pc).
