The Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB) and COCEMFE Barcelona have signed a collaboration agreement this morning whereby the NGO will carry out an accessibility study in the Zona Franca de Barcelona. In line with the UN Sustainable Development Goal number 11, which seeks to make cities more inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable, the collaboration between the CZFB and COCEMFE will make it possible to analyze the problems that may exist in terms of accessibility in the polygon to solve them and, at the same time, design more viable itineraries.

The signing ceremony, which took place at the CZFB offices, was attended by Pere Navarro , special delegate of the State in the Barcelona Free Zone Consortium, and Montserrat Pallarès , president of COCEMFE Barcelona.

Pere Navarro has insisted on the importance for the CZFB to have an industrial estate that is fully accessible. “We are moving towards sustainable strategic cities and facilities, so we want the Industrial Park of the Zona Franca de Barcelona to be a benchmark in the elimination of physical barriers, in which access is encouraged for all groups and in which no one feel left out ” .

For its part, Montserrat Pallarès highlighted that: “ This will be the first agreement of a collaboration that will be expanded with more measures in line with the SDGs. The commitment of the CZFB to be an outstanding agent in the territory that serves as a model for the rest is important ”. The president of COCEMFE Barcelona explained that accessibility goes further and ” must also be understood as accessibility to jobs in equal conditions for all people and without anyone being excluded because they have a disability.”

The results of the study are expected to be presented next November.
