Location: Houston, Texas

Price: $3.995 million

This newly built contemporary spec house in Houston’s leafy Memorial neighborhood offers a pool and spa, three wet bars, a wine room, an elevator, a game room and a fully covered outdoor kitchen.

“The house is in a very prestigious part of Memorial,” said listing agent Thomas Eureste, of NAN & Co. Properties/Christie’s International Real Estate. “It is very modern and it has some finishing touches that make it unique.”

One of its best features is the four full-size pocket doors that open up completely to “give the illusion of being in California and enjoying that indoor-outdoor lifestyle,” he said. Another interesting feature is a private staircase that leads from the mudroom up to the primary bedroom suite.

Other architectural and design details include a heavy steel front door that pivots, an automatic driveway gate, a second floating staircase, both hardwood and Italian tile floors, a balcony, and wood paneling on the exterior ceilings. The facade is made of stucco, brick and concrete.

A floating staircase leads from the foyer to the second floor.

The entry foyer has a 24-foot ceiling, and the dramatic study to the right of the foyer features an 18-foot ceiling and floor-to-ceiling bookcases bathed in sunlight from wall-to-wall windows.

The open-plan kitchen has appliances by Wolf and Sub-Zero, Italian cabinetry and an island. It opens to the family room.

“This house is unique in that it has a formal breakfast room and a formal dining room,” Mr. Eureste said.

The first floor also holds a mudroom with a large food pantry and an en-suite bedroom.

The second-floor primary bedroom suite has its own reception area along with a private balcony overlooking the pool, an office/sitting area, a wet bar and a bathroom with a large soaking tub, a dual-entry walk-in shower and dual water closets, vanities and sinks.

This floor also holds three other en-suite bedrooms and a game room with a bar and a private balcony that overlooks the front yard.

All of the bedrooms have full-size custom closets with built-ins, Mr. Eureste said.

The 7,305-square-foot house has five bedrooms, six full bathrooms and two partial bathrooms. It sits on a 14,000-square-foot lot.

Amenities include a resort-style pool, an infinity spa, a fenced backyard, a three-car garage, three fireplaces, a climate-controlled 500-bottle wine room, an elevator, a game room with a private balcony, three wet bars and a completely covered outdoor patio with a full outdoor kitchen.

Neighborhood Notes

The house is in an enclave known as Memorial Close-in, Mr. Eureste said. “It’s the most prominent part of Memorial, a very small pocket that’s closest to the city.”

“It’s centrally located but you have a sense of privacy,” he said. It doesn’t feel like you’re in the city. It’s very private, very woodsy.”

It’s about a seven-minute drive to downtown Houston, he said.
