BMW Australia has confirmed just nine examples of the second-generation 8 Series’ Heritage Edition are up for grabs, with deliveries to start in the fourth quarter of this year.
Celebrating the 30th anniversary of the 8 Series launching in Australia, the Heritage Edition is offered in Gran Coupe sedan ($189,900 plus on-road costs), Coupe ($192,900) and Convertible ($207,900) body-styles.
And despite costing $15,000 less than the entry-level 840i grade it’s based upon, the Heritage Edition is available in exclusive three paintwork-upholstery combinations, with one of each on offer per body-style.
These pairings include Frozen Marina Bay Blue with black Merino, Frozen Black with Ivory White Merino, and Frozen Dark Silver with Tartufo/black Merino, with each punctuated by a ‘Edition Heritage – 1/9’ centre-console badge.
Other standard equipment in the Heritage Edition includes sports suspension with adaptive dampers, Jet Black 20-inch alloy wheels, sports brakes (with red callipers), a rear limited-slip differential, soft-close doors and high-gloss-black trim.
Inside, a 464W Harmon Kardon sound system, a head-up display, heated and cooled front seats, heated armrests, Walknappa leather-trimmed dashboard and upper door trims, an Anthracite Alcantara headline (excluding Convertible), CraftedClarity glass applications and Piano Black trim feature.
Advanced driver-assist systems extend to lane-keep and steering assist, adaptive cruise control (with stop and go functionality), Reversing Assistant, park assist, surround-view cameras and front and rear parking sensors, among others.
Like other 840i variants of the Porsche 911 and Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe rivals, the Heritage Edition is motivated by a 250kW/500Nm 3.0-litre turbo-petrol inline six-cylinder engine, which drives the rear wheels via an eight-speed torque-converter automatic transmission.
