Former CT home of ‘Law & Order: SVU’ star Chris Meloni on the market for nearly $5M

Sited east-west on one of the highest points in New Canaan, the 14-room Colonial at 982 Oenoke Ridge Road offers sunrises, sunsets and seasonal views of the New York City skyline, said listing agent Sheila Clemente of Houlihan Lawrence.

Built in 1987 and completely remodeled in 2007, the home features more than 9,000 square feet of living space with a 3,500-square-foot barn the current owners have used for Thanksgiving feasts and their own wedding festivities, she said.

The house was formerly owned by “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” star Christopher Meloni, according to previous Hearst Connecticut reporting. The actor sold it for $4.3 million back in 2015. Meloni still resides in Connecticut and was recently spotted dining in Woodbury with Gov. Ned Lamont. Early on in the pandemic, he took to Youtube to promote the governor’s “Stay Safe, Stay Home” initiative asking residents to quarantine.

The many Palladian windows and French doors throughout the house suffuse the home with light and views of the sweeping lawns, which include a heated pool with spa. Also making good use of the light is the solar-generated electricity that pairs with app-controlled technology, Clemente said.

The living room, with one of the home’s four fireplaces, leads to a paneled library/billiards room with a fireplace, coffered ceiling and custom refrigerators and a wet bar for wine tastings. Off the library is a private first-floor guest suite with new bath and French doors to a private garden, which could also serve as the home’s primary bedroom suite.

The house at  at 982 Oenoke Ridge Road in New Canaan, once owner by actor Christopher Meloni, is on the market for $4,995,000.

Upstairs the current master suite features a bath with steam shower, dressing room and French doors to a tiered porch with views of sunsets and stars. The home offers six bedrooms overall.

The nearby two-level party barn has radiant heat and two powder rooms and is topped by the solar grid that generates enough power for the main house and the barn, Clemente said. The barn’s three automatic overhead doors and two traditional sliding doors could make it a welcome space for a car collection or large gatherings.

This house is on the market for $4,995,000.
