Sberbank : Sber’s first community center opens doors in Samara | MarketScreener

A unique venue to unite environmentally friendly communities across Samara Region has opened its doors in Samara. Sber’s Community Center allows local residents who care about the environment hold events for free, as well as discuss environmental and social initiatives, and run their projects.

The all-new center was constructed using modern materials and technology meeting all environmental standards. These include acousto-optic light switches, LED lamps, and automatic water flow controllers. Furthermore, the Community Center is barrier free and accessible.

Sber’s Community Center was inaugurated by Alexander Anashchenko, Chair of the Povolzhsky Bank of Sberbank PJSC, and governor of Samara Region Dmitry Azarov. Center guests enjoyed a tour to see what the new space is capable of.

Alexander Anashchenko, Chair of the Povolzhsky Bank of Sberbank PJSC:

‘SberBank treats environmental issues very responsibly. We have been among the first in Russia to start using lean production and we’re guided by ESG principles in our operations. For us, it’s vital that society would change its attitude to nature and social responsibility. The opening of Sber’s Community Center in Samara is a new step. I’m sure that the Center will unite environmental activists, local public enthusiasts, and enable stakeholders to create unique projects to enhance the importance of the environment for local residents, letting them run socially important projects.’

Dmitry Azarov, Governor of Samara Region:

‘After having a somewhat closed nature for hundreds of years, banking is now on a new development path. I’m talking about a new development concept and philosophy of the Group, which is now rightfully considered the most hi-tech one.

Energetic, responsible, and creative people in our region, Samara, are now being offered another opportunity to get together, learn something new, exchange their experience, and put their ideas into action by using Sber’s tech capabilities. It’s an example of how you should communicate with society to co-design ideas that I’m sure will enrich our region, every visitor of the center, and the group of companies.’

During the inauguration ceremony, SberBank’s Povolzhsky Bank and the Samara chapter of the Russian Geographical Society signed an agreement covering mutual educational and research programs aimed at making geography, related sciences, and nature preservation more popular and implementing research, cultural, social, and environmental programs to study Samara Region.

Denis Volkov, Chair of the Samara Region chapter, Russian Geographical Society:

‘We have signed a crucial agreement today. It will let us co-implement projects. Sberbank is a leading business and active user of modern digital technology, while the Russian Geographical Society has over 175 years of experience in studying our planet and spreading awareness about it. I’m confident that our partnership will benefit society a lot.’
