This Is What Makes The New Ford Bronco So Awesome

Got forced out by market forces, but 25 years later same forces are now in its favor – ladies and gents, the Ford Bronco is back! Grilled in the Johnson Valley desert, appraised in the intense Baja 1000 terrains, the new Ford Bronco has been severely torture-tested. It’s been put through fire and brimstone and it stood, reassuring all enthusiasts of its capability to deliver unrivaled automotive performances, the type required to overcome even the most grueling of terrains, both on and off-road.

Ushering in the sixth generation models, the new Ford Bronco came better, but not necessarily bigger. It’s now being offered for the first time in mid-size, however, it can be ordered either as a two-door or a four-door convertible, directly competing with brands like the Jeep Wrangler. The new Ford Bronco is available in several series and we’ve highlighted them all along with other peculiar attributes which display the majesty of this returning off-road king!

Capable Powertrain Options

While the Bronco conspicuously lacks an eight-cylinder engine, it gets the power generation job done through a very capable standard turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine with an output of 300 horses or through an optional twin-turbo 2.7-liter V6 with an amazing output of 330 horses.

The Bronco is, however, big on its means of power distribution, adopting a 10-speed automatic transmission for both powerplant options while a seven-speed manual transmission can be mated only to the smaller engine. All Broncos are AWD.

G.O.A.T. Modes

Simply put, G.O.A.T. means Goes Over Any Type of Terrain, and it’s a suite of modes that comes with the Bronco’s Terrain Management System. These modes help Bronco deliver uniquely configured driving experiences through an aggregate of specialized electronic systems.

via: Ford

The G.O.A.T. Modes are deployed based on trim levels, to regulate the handling, steering, and powertrain response for optimal performance in different conditions. They include Normal, Eco, Sport, Slippery, Mud/Ruts, Sand, Rock Crawl, and Baja, with operations that instill the needed confidence to delightfully drive the Bronco.

Base

The Bronco Base series comes only with the required features. Hence, the series is an ideal option for personalization and customization of Bronco tailored to the financial capacity of the owner. It enables owners the opportunity to add only their desired features to the Bronco.

Nonetheless, some of the cool standard features on the Bronco include optional 35-inch tires, detachable doors, and roof as well as standard 4×4 and Terrain Management System with five G.O.A.T. Modes.

The Black Diamond series is heightened for adventure off-roading. The series is designed to be a workhorse and it possesses several features that help it live up to this responsibility. Some of these features are the steel front and rear bumpers, heavy-duty skid plates, rock rails, rear-locking differential, and seven G.O.A.T. Modes – helping the Bronco handle the most challenging of terrains.

The series also features 32-inch LT265/70R17 all-terrain tires and two tow hooks at the front and rear.

5
Outer Banks

via: Ford

Heightened for jaw-dropping off-roading style, the Outer Banks series is as gorgeous as an off-roading SUV can get. The vehicle rides on 18-inch high-gloss black-painted aluminum-alloy wheels while signature LED headlamps and taillamps are standard. It also has body-color fender flares and powder-coated tube steps.

Also, the adventure is extended to interiors as it features an optional 13-inch LCD touchscreen and B&O sound system.

Badlands

When the Black Diamond series is found short of off-roading requirements, the Badlands becomes the next go-to option to satisfy all extreme off-roading desires. Its Bilstein position-sensitive monotube shocks help to stabilize the Bronco’s movement for enhanced off-road control.

Also, the package features front- and rear-locking differentials as well as a choice of 35- and 33-inch mud and all-terrain tires for a more capable SUV. Furthermore, the package has an extensive interior option from sparse vinyl to full leather technologically advanced features.

Wildtrak

The Wildtrak is also built to look the part, it features standard hardtop on 2- and 4-door models complemented with black wheels, black grille, and custom hood graphics. This series takes off-roading to a completely new height.

2
First Edition

via: Ford

The ultimate Bronco buffet, First Edition is the height of Ford’s fabrication ingenuity, affording Bronco enthusiasts a taste of the best features offered by each of the series all in one unique package.

via: Ford

Notably, First Edition wears the aesthetical form of a Wildtrak, however, it’s powered by the mechanicals of a Badland, while the interior is fitted out with the amazing features of an Outer Banks, thus creating a unique Bronco blend. Unfortunately, this series is limited edition and it’s been fully reserved.

1
Relative Affordability

via: Ford

Considering all the luxury fittings and several other awesome features found in it, the new Ford Bronco is relatively affordable. Starting at $28,500, the base model of the 2021 Bronco is below the $30,000 price level thereby ranking the SUV among the most affordable models currently available in the market.

via: Ford

For context, several of its rival models have higher starting prices. However, we’d warn that some upgrades swiftly take the Bronco out of the affordability realm.
