In 2019, Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) introduced the GR Supra with its aim to develop a groundbreaking model in the performance car segment. Toyota and BMW co-developed the GR Supra along with the BMW Z4. The same platform, engine, and transmission were applied on the two performance vehicles.
The GR Supra units are manufactured in the Magna Steyr plant in Graz, Austria. The current version that is available in the market is the fifth generation of the iconic nameplate.
The GR Supra features an aggressive styling that makes it stand out. It comes with dual front exhaust pipes, dual exhaust tail pipes, side turn signal lamp, glass-type antenna, and 19-inch forged aluminum wheels. For better illumination and visibility on the road, the car is equipped with LED headlamps, daytime running lights, rear fog lamp, back up lamp, and high-mount stop lamp.
Every driver will surely enjoy a GR Supra experience as the car comes with Alcantara sports seats with eight-way power adjust, memory, and power seat lumbar support. The cockpit comes with an 8.8-inch widescreen thin film transistor (TFT) LCD display that can be linked to a smartphone or tablet through USB or Bluetooth. The cabin is also equipped with a premium 12-speaker high-fidelity surround sound system powered by JBL. To make the ride comfortable for both the driver and the passenger, the GR Supra features a dual-zone push-type air-conditioning system.
Aside from the GR Supra’s bold and dynamic looks, sports car lovers also rave about the car’s impressive track performance. The GR Supra is powered a 3.0-liter twin-scroll turbocharged engine that produces a maximum power output of 335hp from 5,000 to 6,500rpm and maximum torque of 500Nm from 1,600 to 4,500rpm. The engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
To further enhance the performance and handling, the GR Supra is equipped with a double-joint type MacPherson strut front suspension and multi-link suspension. It also comes with an adaptive variable suspension and limited slip differential.
To ensure the safety of the occupants in the event of a collision, the GR Supra comes with seven supplemental restraint system (SRS) airbags. It is also equipped with vehicle stability control (VSC), anti-lock brake system (ABS), and traction control.
The GR Supra also comes with the Toyota Vehicle Security System (TVSS) that uses an alarm and immobilizer to keep it safe from burglars and would-be thieves.
The GR Supra is available in seven color variants: White Metallic, Silver Metallic 5, Ice Gray Metallic, Black Metallic 2, Prominence Red, Lightning Yellow, and Deep Blue Metallic. Price starts at P4.99 million.
