Call of Duty: Warzone entered its fourth season on June 17, bringing 7.2 gigabytes of updates and new content to players. While much of the new season is heavily tied to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, it’s not necessary for players to engage in both games in order to have a full gameplay experience. Continuing the narrative from past seasons, Call of Duty: Warzone Season 4 is full of new operators, weapons, and more for players to explore.
The story leading up to the new season is grim. The free world is in danger as the CIA put a stop to Perseus’ experiments in Verdansk. Stitch, a Perseus agent, sent a metal-faced assailant to the CIA Ground Station. This resulted in Perseus successfully crashing CIA satellites in Verdansk and Algeria. The CIA sent a NATO squadron, led by Russel Adler, to the crash sites to assess the damage, gather information and eliminate threats. At the satellite site, Adler turns extremely violent, claiming that Stitch is capable of anything. Elsewhere, the Call of Duty: Warzone Verdansk map was nuked, setting up a Rebirth Island.

This sets up Ground Fall, starting Call of Duty: Warzone Season 4. The limited-time event offers players a chance to find and secure SAT-Links from the fallen CIA satellites to earn exclusive profile rewards. Many of Ground Fall’s missions and objectives pertain to new points of interest in Call of Duty: Warzone, serving as a point of entry for engaging with all the changes coming this season.
Warzone Season 4: New Operators
Jackal, the metal-faced mercenary who brought down the CIA satellites, will be available at launch. A brutal fighter, he works for the highest bidder, which is currently Perseus. An Ultra-Rarity Jackal Operator Skin will be available to players at Tier 100. Salah, a member of the CIA, will be available later in Season 4. A former operative for Egypt’s Unit 777, Salah was a member of the NATO squadron that went to investigate the downed satellites. Meanwhile, Weaver is stepping over from the zombie-filled Requiem to aid in the threat against NATO. These Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War operatives will certainly spice up the fight in Verdansk.
Warzone Season 4: Free New Weapons
The Season 4 battle pass includes two new weapons and and three armaments that can be unlocked over the course of the season. The MG 82: LMG becomes available at Tier 15, and is a full-auto light machine gun with moderate recoil and damage but increased ammo capacity, fire rate, and aiming speed. At Tier 31, players can unlock the C58 Assault Rifle, a full-auto assault rifle with high damage at close range. A fully automatic nail gun will also be available at launch, which will down enemies after three successful hits at close range.
Later in season will bring the release of the OTs 9 submachine gun. With high recoil and a magazine round of only 20 rounds, this weapon is ideal for squad fights. Two melee weapon are also incoming to the Call of Duty: Warzone. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War‘s baseball bat will be available at launch, and the mace is set to drop later in the season.
Warzone Season 4: Points of Interest
Several CIA satellites have crashed onto the Verdansk map, offering opportunities for cover and to interact with SAT-Links that will allow players to work towards receiving permanent rewards in the Ground Fall event. The satellites won’t appear on players Tac maps, but should be plainly visible as the debris and impact surrounding them is significant.
Mysterious red doors have also appeared in Verdansk. Much of the information surrounding the doors has been redacted, but walking through one will seemingly transport players to another location on the map at random. Intel also indicates the doors will only activate if first pinged by a player.
Hijacked has returned, replacing the Standoff Gulag, featuring a plywood recreation of the yacht’s central area. The flag in the central area has also changed from the Overtime flag to the Domination flag. Though the map has changed, the objective has not; players in the Hijacked Gulag must face off in a duel to earn a respawn in Verdansk. Players awaiting their turn in the cells above can still throw rocks at the current duelers as well.
Warzone Season 4: New Vehicles
The drop zone is seeing its first new vehicle with the arrival of the dirt bike, which will be available to players at launch. The dirt bike offers a fast, nimble mode of transportation around Verdansk. Its unique properties, such as wheel traction, drifting, sliding and leaning, will allow players to more effectively turn, dodge attacks, or do stunts, sure to make for entertaining kills in Call of Duty: Warzone. Players who unlocked dirt bike skins in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will be able to port those customizable options to Call of Duty: Warzone.
Warzone Season 4: New Game Modes
Call of Duty: Warzone Season 4 launches with Verdansk Resurgence Mini. Mimicking the Rebirth Island Resurgence, this mode takes away the Gulag, gives players clarity on enemy positions on elimination of a squad member, offers special supply boxes, and pares down the lobby size to 44-45 players. Designed to be a bite-sized battle royale experience, the drop zone will be more compact and immediately offer higher quality items than in a traditional Call of Duty: Warzone experience. Players should still be able to use strategies from Rebirth Resurgence in this contained version.
Mid-season will bring the game’s first objective-based game mode, called Payload. In this mode, 40 players are tasked with escorting two caravans through a map, overcoming a series of obstacles on the way.
Warzone Season 4: Leveling Up
As with each new season of Call of Duty: Warzone, players will start Season 4 at level one, while progress will resume from the highest prestige level previously achieved. There are four new prestige levels offered during Season 4, earned at levels 50, 100, 150 and 200, respectively. Players can progress up to level 1,000 in Season 4, earning prestige key rewards every 50 levels. Players can level up in Call of Duty: Warzone by completing missions and earning XP.
Warzone Season 4: Gifting
Inspired by the Battle Pass Gifting expansion in the Call of Duty Companion App, Call of Duty: Warzone Season 4 is bringing gifting to Verdansk. Call of Duty: Warzone players will be able to receive gifts at the start of the season, with the ability to gift the Battle Pass, Battle Pass Bundle and Store Bundles planned for later in the season.
Warzone Season 4: Miscellaneous Changes
The Downtown Tower is now vacant, its vault cleared of any items of value, but the building remains, providing a large, strategically valuable map location from which teams can dominate their enemies.
