The crew at Jeep are making a lot of noise about its growing variety of upcoming three-row SUVs. But it would seem that one particular Wrangler beat them to the punch about fifteen years ago.

Up for auction on Car & Bids, this is a 2006 Jeep Wrangler TJ that seems to have been caught in a taffy-puller.

Built by a coachbuilding company in Missouri when the Jeep was new, this custom-built limo-like rig seats six people across three rows of seats and rides on a wheelbase approximately 4.5 feet longer than stock.

Yes, it’s road-legal — though we’re not sure it’ll be tackling its namesake Rubicon Trail anytime soon, given its stretched dimensions.

Those three rows are comprised of stock buckets up front and in the middle, plus a standard-fare TJ bench in the Way Back. Half-doors make the best of an awkward transition in the stretched area, though it is said a custom-built soft top spans the entire length of this thing. Save for the extra seats, its interior will look familiar to anyone who’s ever suffered through spent time in a Jeep TJ.

Under the hood is a period-correct 4.0L inline-six mated to an automatic transmission, a combination which surely labours under this thing’s increased weight. Given the fact it wasn’t any sort of noted performer – aside from being more reliable than the sunrise – when new, acceleration is probably best described as “leisurely.” Hey, at least the seller saw fit to install an aftermarket Magnaflow exhaust.

Not that you’d want to drive this thing hard, anyway. The auction site’s administrator, who’s seen the machine in person, says it draws a crowd at every stop — an assertion with which we will not argue. Bidding is ongoing for the next week and currently sits at 7,500 Freedom Dollars. Thanks to its uniqueness, don’t be surprised if it sells for far more than that amount.
