“Removes awkward mask arguments for staff as well,” Niall said.&nbsp

A video posted on Twitter shows how shops in Thailand are ensuring that shoppers wear face masks and have face coverings. Niall Harbison, who lives in Koh Samui, posted the video on social media.

The video shows that automatic screens installed at the entrance of store scan the faces of the shoppers for a mask and also check their temperature. The gates are opened only when the shoppers are wearing a face mask and don’t have a high temperature.

“My local shops in Thailand. In 2 seconds scans my temperature and to see if wearing mask. Doors don’t open if not. 3 cases in 100+ days here. Removes awkward mask arguments for staff as well,” the video is captioned.

Several incidents of anti-maskers abusing staff have been reported globally. The scanners seem like an easy solution to avoid the arguments.

The video has gone viral on the microblogging platform, garnering more than 6.6 million views. While most netizens were impressed with the automatic doors, some wondered about what would happen with people having a medical condition.

One user said, “Totally agree with no mask no entry.” Another wrote, “People here in the UK are still allowed to just walk into a shop and buy things without a mask on, it’s crazy, sometimes when I go to my local shop, I am usually sometimes the only person with a mask on, never mind supermarkets too!”

A third user noted, “It’s all about respecting the rules.” Yet another user asked, That’s really brilliant but I’ve seen people walk into shops here with their masks on only to take them off or put them under their chin .. what happens then ?? Do you know? Are they asked to leave or put masks back on?” To this, Niall replied, “Really wouldn’t happen. Just seem to respect the rules. More of a cultural thing as well. Confrontation usually avoided.”
