41 coaches are already running in different railway zones of the country
The Indian railways is planning to introduce 49 more vistadome coaches by the end of the current financial year to meet the growing demand of tourists. So far, 41 coaches are already available in the different railway zones of the country.

“At that time, the material used was polycarbonate plastic which is not strong enough to withstand accidental impacts at higher speeds. Moreover, there was also the problem of heat inside the coach due to the greenhouse effect. Now the glass technology has improved so much that toughened scratch-proof glass is as strong as steel. This has made it possible to go for Vistadome coaches, even for normal passenger trains. The greenhouse effect can be overcome by robust air conditioning,” said Jain.
