A WORCESTERSHIRE motorway service station has been named the fifth best in the UK.

Strensham Services on the M5 between junctions 7 and 8 has been found to be one of the best in the country – good news for those planning a summer get away.

Strensham has a service station on both the north and southbound carriageway boasting a McDonalds, Costa and Leon as well as a WH Smith and Spar.

Worcester News:

Northgate analysed the facilities available at motorway stations across the country to provide a ranking of the best and worst on offer.

The Worcestershire motorway service station scored 69.4/100 for having ten food outlets, a four star hotel rating, showers and car charge points.

Roadchef CEO Mark Fox said the team were delighted at the ranking and added they aimed to de-stress and delight motorists.

“We’re delighted that our Strensham site has been ranked 5th best motorway service area in the UK by Northgate Vehicle Hire.

“We constantly strive to de-stress and delight the millions of motorists that pass through our doors each year.

“Our aim is to provide a wide and exciting range of catering and retail brands and the very best customer experience for every person that stops at one of our sites.

“We are incredibly proud of our hardworking and friendly team at Strensham and are very grateful to them for their continued dedication. We look forward to building on this success and hopefully reaching the top spot next year.”

However, the top five placing may be a little bemusing to TripAdvisor reviewers who only awarded the Roadchef service station an average of three out of five.

Worcester News:

Problems with the food being served, the car park and the condition of the facilities were all reasons for Strensham receiving ‘Terrible’ or ‘Poor’ reviews.

One review, titled “You have one job…” complained that the food was cold and the coffee was watery.

Another review from May 2021 complained that there were no automatic doors or taps working.

“Surely they’ve had plenty of time to sort this out. Car park was a shambles. Not stopping there again. Did not feel safe.”

However, there were some positive reviews of the service station too with one saying the “staff are very friendly and helpful” and another calling it a “friendly and clean services”.

Topping the chart is Cobham on the M25 followed by Beaconsfield (M40), Peterborough (A1 M) and Cambridge (M14).

Carnforth (M6) was named the worst motorway station.
